On the eve of the debut with Angola in the Fiba World Cup, Italbasket head coach Gianmarco Pozzecco wanted to send a clear message to his boys ahead of the upcoming start of the tournament.

"We respect all opponents, but we have to stay focused on our basketball, our identity and what we want to do. There are so many competitive teams in this tournament, but we have to live our dream without goals. The only thing we have to think about is to try to keep playing like we are doing" began the Italbasket coach to the microphones of "Gazzetta dello Sport".

"I do not see a resoundingly unbeatable team. Not even for the USA è not so obvious. Not è the 1992 Dream Team. There are teams that I really like: like Germany and Canada. Then there are France, Slovenia, Spain, Brazil and Australia. There are 12-13 national teams in the running to win a medal, and one of them will finish 12th" added the "Poz".

"I have great regard and esteem for the work done by the group. The boys interpret basketball with great connection. They are focused, eager, passionate and live this adventure with a great sense of responsibility towards their Italian colleagues. All of them have a definite present and/or future, a career written also economically. I want to prove that Italians deserve consideration" Gianmarco Pozzecco closed.
