Stage 6, Palinuro-Salerno, Sept. 2, 2023
Perched on the hill for defensive reasons, the inhabitants could reach the coast by a path with steps that can still be used today.
The ride will continue through Velina and and the village of Rutino, arriving in Agropoli, which stands in the splendid setting of the National Park of Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni, on the southern tip of the Gulf of Salerno, where the waters reflect the clear light of the sky and history, traditions and culture intertwine.
Passing through Foce del Sele, a small hamlet in the municipality of Capaccio, we will close the sixth leg of our ride in Salerno. Overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, the province of Salerno boasts some of the most beloved and popular destinations for tourists in Italy.
The historical center of the city, recovered after the damage of the 1980 earthquake, preserves intact its original medieval structure of which the greatest example is the Cathedral, built by the Norman prince Robert Guiscard.
