Italvolley, no Olympics at least for now
Poland-Italy 3-1
Poland 1-3 (25-15; 24-26; 23-25; 21-25) shattered the dream of early qualification to the next Olympic Games of the Italian women’s national team. In the decisive match played in Lodz in a’Atlas Arena literally incandescent (10 thousand spectators), Sylla and her teammates failed to beat the Poles and thus detach the pass for Paris 24.
Thus, the party is USA and Poland (first and second in Pool C) with Italy, on the other hand, finishing third, just one win away from the five-ring finish line. Tomorrow the Azzurre will fly to Italy to conclude a long summer that began with the VNL, continued with the European Championships and ended with the Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
The road to Paris, now uphill but not yet interdicted, will pass through the FIVB ranking with Italy that will be called to play a great VNL 2024 to win the necessary points to fall in the last 3 useful places (1 place guaranteed to an Asian and 1 to an African) to qualify for Paris ‘24.
