Alberto Puig open-hearted about Marc Marquez's farewell

After the official announcement of Marc Marquez to Ducati from Team Gresini, Honda team manager Alberto Puig, at the official MotoGp microphones, broke his silence on the Spanish centaur's farewell to the Japanese team.

"Marc tried to get a bike that would suit his riding style. Honda has tried to give it to him but unfortunately so far we have not succeeded. The situation è clear: he needed a different kind of bike for next year and as a team we understood that. So we decided that the best thing for both sides was to let him go" began the Honda team manager.

"If I look back we did wonderful things with Marc. We had some great moments. Honda è very grateful to Marc for the contribution he made and he è grateful for what we gave him. He had been asking for an improvement on the bike for a long time, but he made his decision last week. He called us and explained the situation. The team will never try to convince a rider who does not want to stay" continued the Spanish manager.

"It è never nice to lose a champion, but è worse to give up your dreams. We will lose Marc, but Honda’s philosophy remains the same. We will continue to try and fight to develop a competitive bike. Throughout history we have had several ups and downs, but the desire to improve and be at the top is always there. It's sad to end this relationship, but we will move forward. Hopefully, Marc will be able to get what he deserves and have a good career ahead of him. We, on the other hand, will try to build a bike to fight against him" added the Barcelona native.

In conclusion Alberto Puig è expressed himself on the rumors related to the possible arrival in Honda of Miguel Oliveira: "We have not had contact with anyone. At the moment I can’t give you any news, because I don’t have any. Until Tuesday evening, when I received the call from Marc, we had not moved. It è not an easy time for us, but we will see how to solve this problem".
