Ducati, Jorge Martin in pieces: "Lesson learned"
Jorge Martin is biting his hands over another race almost thrown to the wind. The Ducati Pramac team rider è confirmed himself as the fastest on the track again in Australia, but a mistake in tire choice chastised him in the finale.
"Now è easy to say that the soft tire would not make it to the finish. I had a good race. I drove very well, cleanly, without using the rear too much just thinking about the last laps. I was able to give a good gap, but at one point the tire è just gone. It wasn’t there anymore and they caught me".
"I realized I wasn’t going to make it already with 6 laps to go. Lì I realized how the tire was now gone. I tried to lean a little bit more’ to the right, to brake differently. Però I realized that by doing that I was in danger of falling off. Iè got half a hope back with a couple of laps to go, but no dice".
"Whether the team agreed with my decision to choose soft? Absolutely sì. In fact, maybe I è really missed someone putting the flea in my’ear, telling me not to".
Martin did not hide his bitterness: "The state of mind è the same as Mandalika, but in Indonesia it è weighed much more heavily on me. Lè I had won and threw success to the wind. Today I made a bad decision. I ran well and I know I can win the Sprint tomorrow. Surely what happened today è a lesson for the future".
