World Championships in Athletics
Two days of institutional meetings to support Rome’s bid for the 2027 World Championships. È began on Monday morning the ‘site visit’ of World Athletics in the Capital, in order to evaluate the dossier presented by the Italian Athletics Federation, in the running to return to host the maximum rainbow event forty years after the historic 1987 edition. FIDAL President Stefano Mei and World Athletics Council member Anna Riccardi welcomed the delegation led by Antti Pihlakoski, who headed the evaluation commission, to Rome.
In the morning, as their first official appointment, the Bidding Evaluation Commission è was received by Minister for Sport and Youth Andrea Abodi who expressed the government’s support for the Rome 2027 project. The visit è continued with a visit to the Olympic Stadium, the beating heart of the event, in the presence of Sport and Health ceo Diego Nepi Molineris and Foro Italico Stadium and Park director Andrea Santini. In the afternoon, the agenda includes a meeting with the mayor of Rome Roberto Gualtieri and on Tuesday morning with CONI president Giovanni Malagò.
