The words of Sofia Goggia and Federica Brignone after the downhill in Val d'Isere
Fourth place for Sofia Goggia and eighth place for Federica Brignone in the Val d’Isere downhill race won by the reigning rainbow champion, Switzerland’s Jasmine Flury with a time of 1’43”37 and a lead of twenty-two hundredths of a second over compatriot Joana Hählen and 0”24 over Austria’s Cornelia Hütter.
”I made a mistake in a spot where it was not supposed to be and was dumped low off the line by a bump – admitted Goggia, in the words reported by FISI -. After the landing from the jump I felt the fatigue in my legs and in the next two turns I was not able to push hard. I am a bit’ affected but it can’ t be an excuse, although objectively I am not in the full of my energy".
Federica Brignone sees the glass half full: "I lost too much time from the first to the second intermediate, then I am very happy with my race from that point on, where I keep the pace of the best. I am skiing well, doing what I want even on long downhill skis and I am satisfied, after all è my best downhill result in Val d'Isere. Tomorrow in superG there won't be the initial sliding part".
