After the long weekend in Wengen, the men’s national sprint team is already on its way to Kitzbuehel, the iconic Tyrolean resort that this year will host three races, two downhill races Friday and Saturday and the slalom on Sunday to close the program. The races will be preceded by three practice days, starting Tuesday, set by the’organization to take precautions in case of bad weather.

The dt of the Azzurri, Massimo Carca, has summoned nine athletes for the Austrian stage: Dominik Paris, Christof Innerhofer, Florian Schieder, Mattia Casse, Nicolò Molteni, Benjamin Alliod, Pietro Zazzi, Guglielmo Bosca and Matteo Franzoso.

Last year’s downhill was the lot of Florian Schieder, who was able to take an excellent second place in the downhill, which is the most recent result for an Italian on the Streif. Paris, who has had many satisfactions on the Tyrolean slope, took third in the downhill in ’21, while in ’19 he won the downhill and was third in the super-G (which will not be run this year). The Val d’Ultimo champion’s record includes three other victories on the Streif, two in the downhill and one in the superG, and a second place, also in the downhill.

The’last podium finish in slalom is due to Patrick Thaler, who was third in ’14, while the’last Italian victory in the specialty’è was by Cristian Deville, who won in ’12.
