Benetton Rugby armors Jacob Umaga
Jacob Umaga extends contract with Benetton
Benetton Rugby announced on Wednesday that it has reached an agreement for the extension until 2026 of the contract of Jacob Umaga, the 1998-class opening halfback, among the great protagonists of the excellent start of the season of the Lions, currently second, after nine games, in the United Rugby Championship.
"I am very happy to have extended my contract with Benetton Rugby,” said Umaga, son and nephew d'art (dadà Mike played for the Samoa national team, uncle Tana è was an All Blacks legend). I feel the club will have a great future and is getting stronger and stronger. We have a great team, which also made my decision easy. Thanks to the fans for their support so far, we really appreciate it and we count on it to remain so for the rest of the season".
"Jacob’s renewal represents very important news for the club,” added Antonio Pavanello, general manager of the Treviso club. “In this his first season and a half in Treviso, Umaga has proven his value on the court. A player with remarkable technical skills, able to attack incisively the opponent’s defensive line and also endowed with an excellent foot; the latter quality is also fundamental in terms of scoring".
"All thisò – added l'former second line of the National Team -has allowed us to create a healthy competition with the other departmental teammates, an ambitious condition that we intend to achieve on all roles by having 2-3 figures of depth for each of them. By doing so we raise the quality of training and at the same time keep the roster highly competitive over the course of the season while managing to cope with possible absences due to injury".
