Ivan Hasek new coach of the Czech Republic

Ivan Hasek è has been appointed Czech Republic coach and will lead the national team to Euro 2024 in Germany, in a group that also includes Portugal, Turkey and one other qualified team.

The 60-year-old former Czech national (55 appearances with Czechoslovakia, 1 with the Czech Republic) replaces Jaroslav Silhavy – who resigned after qualifying for the European Championships – and his contract, the Czech Football Federation informs, will expire at the end of World Cup qualifying in November 2025.

As a club coach, Hasek won two national titles with Sparta Prague in 2000 and 2001, but then coached extensively abroad, first in France and then in the United Arab Emirates before becoming Lebanon’s coach in 2021.

In 2009 from July to October è he was already on the Czech Republic bench for only five games, with three wins and two draws.
