Juve comes back and then ramps up: 6-1 to Salernitana
Juventus-Salernitana 6-1
There was no history in the last match of the round of 16 of the Italian Cup. At the Allianz Stadium, in fact, Juventus scrambled Salernitana with a resounding 6-1. The granata’s initial lead through Ikwuemesi was answered by Miretti, Cambiaso, Rugani, Yildiz and Weah, with even a Bronn's own goal in the middle to sign the momentary 4-1.
Shocking start for the hosts: on 2'Gatti made a mistake on disengagement and served Ikwuemesi who beat Perin, signing the lead for the Granata. Juve’s reaction forò è rabid: at 12' on a Chiesa cross from the left, Cambiaso makes the bank for the incoming Miretti who makes it 1-1. Seven minutes later Gatti redeemed himself by getting a penalty kick, which, however, was revoked by Var. At 34' the Bianconeri take the lead with Cambiaso, who takes advantage of a Danilo spurt and beats Fiorillo with a beautiful diagonal left-footed shot.
In the second half, Juve ramped up the pace: on 54' came the trio with Rugani’s tap-in after the visitors’ goalkeeper had parried a header by Milik; on 75' the hosts dropped the poker thanks to an own goal by Bronn; two minutes from the end Yildiz signed the five with a violent right-footed shot after a nice slalom. In the salvage there's also glory for Weah, who blasts a right-footed shot from outside the box that slips under the cross of the posts.
With this victory, the Bianconeri advance to the quarterfinals of the Coppa Italia where they will face Frosinone, executioners of Napoli. For Salernitana on Sunday è already time for a rematch in the league, as the granata will host Juventus all'Arechi at 18.00.
