Gianmarco Pozzecco wins but is exonerated
Gianmarco Pozzecco exonerated
È lasted just over two months Gianmarco Pozzecco's experience as coach of Asvel Villeurbanne. His adventure è ended with a cup win against Zalgiris Kaunas, but this è was not enough to save his post.
Pozzecco had been called by Tony Parker, former NBA star and president of Asvel, who had exonerated his brother TJ to give Pozzecco the opportunity. The team is now in last place in the Euroleague, with three wins and 16 losses, and in third place in France, four wins behind leading Monaco. His place will be taken temporarily by assistant Pierric Poupet, pending possible developments for next season with Frederic Fauthoux assumed as coach.
Pozzecco got a part-time deal from the Federation so he could also coach a club, but he has lost 14 of the 24 games he has coached. The eight losses in nine games between league and cup had put a strain on his position, and the defeat against Partizan marked the end of his experience in France.
