Inter: Var chaos, Marotta rejects accusations and counterattacks
"We are authoritatively and deservedly at the top of the standings" Inter's CEO Beppe Marotta on the sidelines of the Serie A League Assembly commented on the refereeing controversy that followed the last day of the championship and responded to accusations of favoritism rained down from many sides.
"At the end of the first leg è it is fair to take stock, recognizing Inter's merits of being first deservedly because of an intensely applied work culture, because of a work of the club and players and because of the merits of our fans. Statistics help to objectively assess the facts. This deposes to say that we are authoritatively leading the ranking".
On the Var issue: "It's been evoked by everyone. It è not been taken as a tool to eradicate referee errors, but to reduce them. Then each companyà has to put the pros and cons at the end of the season. Subjectivity exists and errors also. Then I believe that at the end of the championship the best team" will win.
On personal accusations: "I do not want to make controversy by commenting on these captious statements. Far from thinking that Inter is conditioned by favoritism, I send these statements back to sender. The work è done by a team that has a strong society behind it. We are first deservedly: to be winter champions, forò, è like a Pyrrhic victory. It will count; being first in May. It seems to me that even yesterday there were other refereeing errors for other teams".
The accusations against Inter: "I have been in soccer for more than 40 years and every year there is talk of favors for this or that club". There is also controversy with VAR. It is part of the game. We are the hare today, and the hare must be able to dodge the hunters".
