Remco Evenepoel uncovers cards and warns rivals
Remco Evenepoel will beà at the next Tour de France
Remco Evenepoel will participate for the first time in his career in the Tour de France, in the 2024 edition that will start from Italy, more precisely from Florence. It was announced by the Belgian rider himself, during the official presentation of the Soudal Quick-Step team on Tuesday. Evenepoel thus launches the challenge to Jonas Vingegaard, winner of the 2023 edition, and Tadej Pogacar, who promised battle after his second place last year.
"The 2023 season è has been special and full of successes,” Evenepoel told official Soudal Quick-Step channels, “from winning the Liège-Bastogne-Liège in the rainbow jersey to the World Time Trial, so I can be proud of how things have gone, despite a few setbacks, such as the health problems that forced me to withdraw from the Giro d'Italia on the most beautiful".
"Everything that è happened last year now belongs to the past – added the 2022 world road champion – and all my attention è turned to this year. I will race a lot in France in the coming weeks, I hope for more good results and to do well in the Tour de France".
Evenepoel will start his season in February in Portugal, first at the Figueira Champions Classic, then at the Volta ao Algarve. The class of 2000 has participated in four major stage races: he è withdrew twice out of two at the Giro d'Italia, in 2021 and 2023, while at the Vuelta he had mixed results, winning the 2022 edition and finishing 12th in the following year's.
