At the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, AC Milan beat Roma 3-1 in the first day back of the Serie A championship.

The Giallorossi started better than the Rossoneri, who però went ahead at’11’: Adli served by Reijnders got free with a feint and with his left beat Svilar. Roma did not react and on 29’ Theo Hernandez, served by Leao, hit the crossbar with a shot-cross.

The first chance for the guests came a minute later: Cristante for Celik, shot deflected into the corner by Maignan. Soon after, Spinazzola providentially deflects a right-footed shot by Pulisic into a corner. On 36’ again Pulisic, on a cross from Leao, hits a header, ball just wide. At 40’ another save by Maignan, who parries a Paredes right-footed shot from outside the box in two times.

Resume. At 55’ Gabbia clamorously goofs up the double header alone in front of the goal set up by Adli. But a minute later the doubling comes anyway: Kjaer backs for Giroud who scores the 11th goal in the league with his head. At 63 new attempt by Pulisic, left-footed left-footed by a whisker to the side.

On 69’ penalty for Roma for Calabria’s foul on Pellegrini, Paredes converted and shortened the distance. At 73’ Pellegrini comes close to making it 2-2 on a free kick and three minutes later again Pellegrini tries a right-footed shot from outside, blocked by Maignan. At’84’ Milan closed the game: Giroud’s backheel for Theo Hernandez who exploded a left-footed shot that slotted into the seventh.

At’86’ Maignan saves again by removing from the corner and sending in a left-footed shot by the usual Pellegrini. At 90’ Musah’s personal action who jumps over two opponents and with a right-footed shot hits the post. Milan è increasingly third, Roma è increasingly in the middle of the standings.
