Atalanta steamroller: 5-0 at Frosinone, Champions League one point away
A high-five to make an overbearing bid for the Champions League again.
Atalanta was unstoppable against Frosinone, which was swept away in Bergamo with a 5-0 no-strike victory that allowed Gian Piero Gasperini’s side to renew their ambitions to return to the Champions League in the clearest way possible. With the success at the Gewiss Stadium, in fact, the orobici rise to fifth place in the Serie A standings and just one point behind fourth-placed Fiorentina.
Ready to go and Atalanta put the game on ice. Already at the 6' minute Holm sneaks on the right and tricks Lusuardi who knocks him down in the box: è penalty, the second consecutive after the one in Coppa Italia against Milan but even the first of the season in the league for Dea. As in San Siro on the penalty spot goes Koopmeiners and the result è the same: goal. But it isn't over yet: even before the quarter of an hour has passed the Nerazzurri double and triple. On 13' Ederson scores, punctual in insertion after a scramble by Ruggeri on the left. And on 14' there's also glory for De Ketelaere, who collects from De Roon and unloads a left-handed bolide under the crossbar.
Already before halftime the poker could come, which the same Koopmeiners and Ederson waste. Then Turati says no to Scamacca. Frosinone committed Carnesecchi only in the final half with Mazzitelli and then asked in vain for a penalty. In the second half the Ciociari grow, but Cheddira and Soulé do not reopen the game. The two outfielders Zappacosta and Holm then closed it out once and for all, scoring at the 84'84' and 90' respectively.
