José Mourinho, Zibì Boniek’s words cause discussion
Polish legend’s remarks fuel discussion on Portuguese
The news of José's exoneration; Mourinho, followed later by the news of Daniele De Rossi being entrusted with the Roma coaching job, has inevitably shaken the world of soccer and divided fans into two factions: in this sense, the clear stance of Zibì Boniek, who è expressed himself in favor of the change of the guard on the bench, has caused much discussion.
"Courageous, unpopular but intelligent choice" wrote in perfect Italian, on 'X', the former footballer, who in his experience boasts three seasons with the Roma jersey between 1985/86 and 1987/88. On the same social network Boniek later posted a picture of De Rossi, wishing the former Giallorossi captain good luck.
Boniek's words were decidedly divisive, attracting as much praise, from those who support the club's choice, as criticism, from those who instead believe that Mourinho should have been given another chance to move up the ladder after Roma's disappointing results in recent matches.
In any case, Mourinho said goodbye to Roma after two and a half seasons: beyond this year's results, the Conference League won in 2022, in the final in Tirana against Feyenoord, thanks to Nicolò Zaniolo's goal, will certainly remain in Giallorossi history, as well as the less fortunate Europa League final reached 12 months later and lost, amid controversy, against Sevilla in Budapest.
