Closed-door round, Udinese files complaint
L'Udinese files complaint
Udinese has announced that it has officially lodged a complaint against the sports judge’s decision to have the Bianconeri play behind closed doors for one round following the events of last Saturday’s Udinese-Milan match. "Udinese Calcio – reads the note released Wednesday -, after a’careful analysis of the documents received during the day, has decided to lodge a complaint with the FIGC National Court of Appeal against the decision of the Sports Judge of the Lega Serie A to sanction the club with a home match to be played behind closed doors following the incidents that occurred during the match against Milan".
“We reflected at length today on whether or not to lodge a complaint,” Franco Collavino, Juventus general manager, told the club’s official channels. “After a scrupulous reading of the acts, however, we have matured the awareness that we must proceed in this sense in order to safeguard the reputation of our historically multi-ethnic club and the’commitment shown in prosecuting the guilty and against discrimination".
"At the same time, we also want to protect our traditionally fair people who have been unjustly prejudiced by a measure that affects the entire fan base in the face of the unspeakable behavior of a few. Udinese Calcio, for years, has believed in healthy cheering and, as a club, we were the first to invest in the experimentation of facial recognition technologies, tested at the Bluenergy Stadium on the occasion of the final of the 2019 European Under-21 Championships, which would help real fans not to be harmed by individual unlawful conduct" concludes the club.
A few hours earlier, the same clubà had confirmed further measures for what happened last Saturday: "Udinese Calcio, following the’identification of 4 more people responsible for the racist insults to Maignan, announces that it has also banned for life from the Bluenergy Stadium the 4 individuals in question – are the words of the clubà -. As was the case from the very first moment, the club has continued and continues its work alongside the Police Headquarters, confirming absolute firmness in punishing the culprits as proof of its concrete commitment against all discrimination".
