Dinamo Sassari, exonerated Piero Bucchi, team to Nenad Markovic
In two press releases, Dinamo Sassari announced the exoneration of coach Piero Bucchi and entrusting the team to Bosnian Nenad Markovic.
Here is the first statement: “Dinamo Banco di Sardegna says goodbye and thanks coach Piero Bucchi for these two years together: a path studded with Italian and European challenges with two Scudetto semifinals, which will remain in the collective memory. To coach Bucchi the best wishes from the whole club for the best professional and personal satisfactions in the continuation of his career.
The president (Stefano Sardara, ed.) opened the press conference in the clubhouse talking just about Coach Bucchi: ‘I would like to personally thank Piero and his family for their work and support in these two years. Piero is’ much more than a coach, he’ an exceptional person of great human values and with a great dedication to work. Today our paths part only because of the cold rules of sports. To him, Mariolina and his beautiful family, my most heartfelt thanks!’”
And here is the second statement: “Dinamo officially announces that it has hired Nenad Markovic, a 55-year-old Bosnian from Doboj, as head coach of the first team until June 30, 2025. A Bosnian father and Croatian mother, è grew up in KK Bosna playing among others alongside Danilovic. He played in big clubs, including Limoges, Valencia, Olympiakos and Badalona with brackets in 92-93 in the historic Stefanel Trieste. The second foreign coach in Serie A in Sassari’s history after the Markowski parenthesis, who also arrived on the run.
COACH CAREER
Markovic began his coaching career in 2007 with a two-year stint at Panionios in Greece. After Kaod he debuted in the Turkish league with Trabzonspor, then at Pinar, before making the jump with Tenerife in the ACB. With the Spaniards in 2017 he won the Intercontinental Cup, beating Venezuelans Guaros in the final. È returned to Turkey to open a cycle at Gaziantep where he è remained for four seasons achieving excellent results.
THE CHALLENGES WITH SASSARI
Markovic last season beat Dinamo twice in BCL coaching Dijon. Success both in France 88-80 and in Sassari 85-72. The French team had made it to the Round of 16 by eliminating Peristeri in the play-in.
Markovic will be presented to the press on Thursday, Jan. 25 at 10:30 a.m. at the company” clubhouse.
