Ducati, Pecco Bagnaia reassures on future: "It's just a matter of time"
During an interview given to the microphones of Monster Energy, Ducati centaur Pecco Bagnaia, among the various topics discussed, was blunt about his future with the Borgo Panigale team, since his contract will expire in 2024. In addition, the two-time world champion è unbalanced himself in view of next season and the possibility of reconfirming himself as world champion for the third consecutive time.
"It's hard to say who will be the number one rival, because last year there were so many of them. I would say more or less all the Ducati riders, maybe the Honda and Yamaha riders can step up, but also Aprilia and KTM. So many of them can be super fast, so it will be important to be consistent like last year and try to make fewer mistakes, but for sure it will not be easy" began the Ducati centaur.
"At the contractual level, apart from Binder and Marini are all expiring. Personally we will see, but a future still dressed in red would be nice. We are talking about it. I certainly love Ducati and I think they love me. Ours è is an ever-growing relationship and the goal of both parties è to stay together, so I think the contract renewal is just a matter of time" continued the two-time world champion.
"We worked very well mentally, we were always competitive even in the most difficult situations. You have to know your potential and know that you can’t always be at your best. I would like to improve a little bit in explosivity, but above all I would like to make fewer mistakes because in 2023 I fell seven times in total and five of them in the race. Last year we were very competitive becauseé the bike had a very good grip, but my feeling in braking was not great and so we can grow in this area" added the Piedmontese rider.
"It would be nice to have the opportunity to train with a great master like Toni Cairoli. I can't wait to try the new Motocross Ducati at the Ranch because I think it has a lot of potential. Of the current Academy riders, I don't know who I would challenge in off-road racing, instead, if I think of those of the past I would say Valentino Rossi. For sure it would be a good challenge" commented Pecco Bagnaia.
