Superleague, Padua beats Modena

At the Kioene Arena in Padua ends 3-1 for the hosts against Valsa Group Modena the last match of the sixteenth day of Superleague.

Modena begins the match with the sextet consisting of Bruno-Sapozhkov in the main diagonal, Juantorena-Davyskiba in the band, Sanguinetti-Stankovic in the center and Federici at libero. Padova responds with Falaschi at setter, Gabi Garcia opposite, Porro-Gardini hammers, Plak-Crosato center and Zenger libero. Balanced start to the match, 8-8 with Juantorena’s winning lob. Sapozhkov’s winning diagonal brings the Gialloblù ahead 14-15, but Padova doesn’t give up and keeps pushing in a tight first set.

It goes on point-to-point: Modena’s timeout on 24-22 is not enough and è a bad attack by Davyskiba gives Padua the victory of the first partial. The hosts also start well in the second set: immediately 4-2 and Modena timeout. Petrella’s lineup struggles to react, Padova insists and pushes hard until 12-7, which forces the Canary coach to call the second timeout as well. Modena tries to get back into the match, 15-14 with Davyskiba scoring and timeout Padova.

Soì as happened in the first set, it continues point to point: è again the home team gets the better of it first with Gardini’s ace and then with Plak’s wall on Sapozhkov for the final 25-23 in favor of Padova. Modena starts the third set with the three setters on the court and especially on the right foot, 5-8 with Stankovic’s first time and Padova timeout. The gialloblù do not let up, first 10-14 with Rinaldi scoring and then 13-18 resulting in a Padova timeout. The hosts come back down, 16-18 and timeout Modena. Petrella’s team keeps però concentration high until the end and reopens the match by winning the third set with the partial score of 25-22.

In the fourth set, Padua reacts and starts very strong: Porro makes no mistake, 7-3 and timeout Modena. The Veneto lineup presses on with the same Porro and Gardini in great form, 10-5 and another timeout called by Petrella to try to change the situation. Modena tries somehow, although Padova does not give an inch: 17-15 with Davyskiba scoring and timeout of the Veneto team. Two errors, the first by Davyskiba in attack and the second by Bruno in serve, give the 3-1 victory to Padova.
