Historic success for Matthieu Pavon

Matthieu Pavon took a surprise win at the Farmers Insurance Open held at Torrey Pines Golf Club in San Diego. And è it was a historic success, becauseé the 31-year-old from Toulouse è was the first Frenchman, since World War II, to win on the PGA Tour.

With a total of 275 strokes (69 65 72 69, -13) and a decisive birdie in the final round, the transalpine overtook Denmark’s Nicolai Hojgaard, second with 276 (-12) ahead of Germany’s Stephan Jaeger and the Americans Nate Lashley and Jake Knapp, both third with 277 (-11).

Francesco Molinari è returned to make the cut on the top U.S. circuit. After a good start the 41-year-old from Turin è però jammed in the last two rounds and ended the tournament in 73rd place with a score of 290 (70 69 77 74, +2).
