Champions League, Atletico-Inter is coming: double ex warns the Nerazzurri
Diego Godin gets unbalanced on Atletico Madrid-Inter
The countdown to Atletico Madrid-Inter, the return leg of the round of 16 scheduled for Wednesday evening at the Civitas Metropolitano in Madrid, has started: the Nerazzurri are starting from an advantageous situation, thanks to the 1-0 win in the first leg obtained at the San Siro (Arnautovic’s goal in 79'), but Diego Godin, who wore both jerseys as a soccer player, wants to warn Simone Inzaghi’s men.
"The Nerazzurri are superior – began the Uruguayan defender currently engaged in Porongos in his homeland, speaking to 'La Gazzetta dello Sport' -, they have lost 2 games against Atletico's 11. But Wednesday will be a different story. Atletico has to think only about this game, and I assure you that the players know how to do that. They will lean on the stadium, and this year they have lost only once at home".
Godin played for no fewer than nine seasons at Atletico Madrid, winning a La Liga, a Copa del Rey, a Spanish Super Cup, two Europa Leagues and three Uefa Super Cups, reaching the Champions League final in 2014 (his goal against Real Madrid, winner in extra time, was useless) and in 2016 (again a knockout against the Blancos, this time on penalties).
Having closed his experience with the Colchoneros, Godin then played in Inter Milan, after a zero-parameter transfer, for a season and a half, before experiences in Cagliari, Brazil'Atletico Mineiro and Velez Sarsfield, Argentina. After a break, which began in the summer of 2023, he put his soccer boots back on in February 2024, accepting the challenge of Porongos, a club from Uruguay's lower leagues.
