Paolo Bertolucci explains what Jannik Sinner risks

The hip problem puts Jannik Sinner in front of some important choices. In the coming months, the Italian tennis player will play the Rome Internationals, Roland Garros and the Paris Olympics, and no missteps in scheduling are allowed, especially if the physical discomfort suffered in Monte Carlo and Madrid should recur and intensify.

The tennis player from San Candido will è undergo some tests to see if he will be able to be present at the Foro Italico or if he will be forced to make a painful renunciation in order to be at his best at Roland Garros, as his rival Carlos Alcaraz has opted. Rome has important sentimental value, but the Paris tournament clearly è top of Jannik’s thoughts.

Paolo Bertolucci to Sky è was clear: "inflammation, to my knowledge, is dealt with by rest. Of course, you can’t stay 8 days off and then on Friday; play. So he’ll be resting for three days, he’ll do his therapies for sure and on Sunday he’ll be in Rome and then try on Monday. After è it’s his management, whether he has resolved or not. The worrying thing è that playing the Internazionali d’Italia there is a big chance’that the situation could worsen".

According to Bertolucci, Sinner’s forfeit è also possible because of performance issues: "With pain we have seen that he only yields 80%. So how can he win against rivals he finds himself in this state? Even at the cost of being stationary for two weeks, I would advise him to return to play only if he è 100%. He's young and will be able to play these tournaments many more times".
