Jannik Sinner, timetable set with Richard Gasquet
Jannik Sinner, defined timetable with Richard Gasquet
Roland Garros organizers have released the order of play for the fourth day of the Paris tournament, in which second-round matches from the lower part of the men’s draw will be played. Jannik Sinner will close the program on center court, the 'Philippe-Chatrier', taking the court no earlier than 8:15 p.m. against Frenchman Richard Gasquet, world number 124.
There are two precedents between the South Tyrolean and the transalpine, and both of them smile on Jannik: the first dates back to the second round of the Indian Wells Masters 1000 last year when it was the Italian who won in two sets (6-3 7-6), while the last one was played in the first round of the ATP 500 in Halle, also in 2023, with Sinner winning in three sets (6-3 5-7 6-2).
"I faced him twice last year and played two good matches. He's stronger than me, but it would be a fabulous party. Jannik has two tremendous quality fundamentals, forehand and backhand, è fast on the court and has perfect technique. If you put a ball to him in the middle, in the center of the court, you never see it again," said Gasquet ahead of the challenge with Sinner.
On Wednesday, among the Azzurri, Matteo Arnaldi, opposing Frenchman Alexandre Muller, No. 90 in the world rankings, on court 6 starting at 11 a.m., and Lorenzo Sonego, who will face China’s Zhizhen Zhang, No. 44 in the ATP rankings, on court 12, also starting at 11 a.m.
