Italian Tennis and Padel Federation President Angelo Binaghi commented on the historic achievement of Jannik Sinner, a new world number one. By virtue of Novak Djokovic's withdrawal from Roland Garros, the South Tyrolean has jumped to the top of the ATP ranking and is the first Italian in the history of tennis to achieve it.
"This incredible, historic achievement è thanks to an extraordinary young man, surrounded by a staff of absolute value,” stressed the FITP president. “Jannik, moreover, has behind him a family that has given him a wealth of values that have led him to achieve this result at just 22 years old".
"Having an Italian at the top of the world fills our movement with pride,” he added, “and makes all the people who together with me over this long period have passionately dedicated their lives to the revival first and then the success of Italian tennis" feel fulfilled.
"È a victory of the whole system, of our 14 thousand tennis teachers, of the more than four thousand clubs and all the managers who, all together, are the engine of this magnificent sport" concluded Binaghi.
