From Germany confident: Sergio Perez toward confirmation at Red Bull
Sergio Perez toward staying at Red Bull
One of the issues that will hold the bench for the entire 2024 F1 season è that concerning who will be Max Verstappen’s partner in Red Bull next season. Although, several options would be circulating, in recent days the odds of a confirmation of Sergio Perez would have risen.
According to reports from the German website "Bild", the Milton Keynes-based stable, despite the below-expectations start, has reportedly decided to confirm the Mexican driver alongside the Dutchman for the 2025 season as well. For the former Racing Point driver, in fact, a one-year contract would be ready with an extension option for another season for the benefit of the Austrian team, which could decide whether to exercise it or not.
Should the negotiation go through, it would be a favorable solution for both parties, as Perez would be assured of another year in a top team with the possibility of trying to earn a further extension, while Red Bull could sound out the market and the performance of the drivers already under contract, Tsunoda and Lawson above all, with a view to a possible change of line-up in 2026.
The confirmation of the Mexican in the Austrian team, in addition, would also have repercussions on Carlos Sainz, who would see an option for the future fade away. The Spaniard, in fact, after the officialdom of Lewis Hamilton's move to Ferrari, has not yet cleared his reservations regarding his next destination.
