Pino Sacripanti returns to Pesaro
Pino Sacripanti è the new coach of VL Pesaro
The Carpegna Prosciutto Basket Pesaro has announced that it has reached an agreement – on a two-year basis – with Stefano Sacripanti for the role of Head Coach of the First Team. In addition, Sacripanti will also be the head of the Sports Area. Coach Sacripanti will thus also be in charge of roster construction and coordination of Basketball Operations.
For the Canturino coach, born in 1970, this is a return to the red and white company after his experience as coach between 2007 and 2009.
Sacripanti’s career began with the club of his hometown, Cant’s, first as coach of the Youth Sector and later of the First Team: in 2001/2002 he reached the playoff semifinals and won the title of best coach of the year. In the following season he hit the Italian Cup final and in 2003/2004 won the Italian Super Cup. His relationship with the Lombard Società ended in 2007: he thus landed in Pesaro, at the helm of VL, which had just returned to the top league. In 2008/2009 with the Pesaresi he won access to the playoffs.
In the summer of 2009 he accepts the call of Caserta, where he will stay until 2013: in 2010 with the bianconeri he reaches the playoff semifinals, also gaining access to the Euroleague for the following season. From 2013 to 2015 è again on the Canturina bench, then he took over the technical guidance of Scandone Avellino with which he reached the playoff semifinals and the Italian Cup final against Milan, repeating himself the following year.
In the summer of 2018 he lands in Bologna, called by Virtus, while in the following season and until 2022 he coaches Napoli, bringing it back to Serie A and also winning the LNP Italian Cup. In 2023 he is called in the current season by Scafati: together with the Campani he achieves salvation. In December 2023 he has to leave the Givova bench for health reasons.
Sacripanti è a point of reference also as far as the Azzurri national team is concerned: in 2017 è he was Ettore Messina’s deputy while in the youth sphere together with the Under 20 selection he won a gold, a silver and a bronze in three editions of the European Championships.
