Marc Marquez spoke to Cadena Ser’s "El Larguero" radio program the day after the official announcement of his move to Ducati for 2025: "Next year we will have to fight for the title".
"This year I made a very important decision, which è was to leave the Repsol Honda Team, the team of my life. The emotional load è was hard, but I did it thinking about the sport and my career, and thatè looking for results so that the motivation would come back. You need courage and desire because you expose yourself to everything, criticism and praise, when you get along. I wanted to do this because otherwise my competitive career would not last much longer. After the injury I was without results for four years and it's difficult to maintain confidence and motivation, no matter how hard it is mentally. I have a plan in my head and so far it is going well".
"From the first moment they told us in Ducati that they were undecided, becauseé they had two riders, and also Bastianini, but they would wait for Mugello. They would be driven by the results, like everything else, and that è came to my mind Sunday night. I have always been very clear and have never strayed from my idea. From the very first conversations I made it clear that to stay in a satellite team I would stay with Gresini, which è the family that gave me the opportunity è to rejuvenate. The most important thing in a negotiation – of any kind -è to be honest and not change my mind".
"With Gigi Dall'Igna we had a very direct and sincere relationship, and I am in Ducati thanks to him. È the engineer who won everything with what he touched. The first thing I told him è if he would stay in Ducati in 2025 and 2026. You feel a sense of belonging when you wear Ducati colors but that only happens when you put on the red suit. Before you do that… you look at: sport and performance. According to Gigi, in Ducati they were convinced by my progression and the capacityà for improvement that they saw".
