Europeans in Rome, Gianmarco Tamberi in fluency in the final: "I have a stratospheric condition"
Gianmarco Tamberi qualifies in great fluency for the final of the European Championships in Rome. The absolute king of the high jump, the reigning Olympic, world and European champion, made only one jump, which was obviously exceeded, at 2.21.
“I am very well, for me è the first competition of the year – said the azure captain to the mcrophone of Rai’s Elisabetta Caporale -. I went all-in on the Paris Olympics but è obvious that I have to win here first. I am in a stratospheric physical form, debuting at a European Championships is è never easy but I am jumping great, I am confident, I know I am doing great and with this audience and the Azzurri team that is doing great I can not shy away from a great result".
Then, on the results of the Italian team that are worth the record of medals won, Tamberi admits that "they started great, actually more", they are scary. I thank them, but I have little to do with this. È it is all thanks to their willpower and willingness to put themselves out there. With them I can share the mentalityà of achieving goals, but è it's all about the team".
At home Azzurri also qualified Manuel Lando and Stefano Sottile, out instead Marco Fassinotti, eliminated at 2.17. Sara Fantini also did well in the hammer throw with her 72.28 meters that qualified her for the specialty finalà with the second overall measure.
Also excellent was the performance of Emmanuel Ihemeje and Andrea Della Valle, who qualified for the triple jump finals, as well as that of Tobia Bocchi, who was the second of the excluded with 16.43 but then è was repechaged for having waited about 20 minutes on the platform due to a problem with the measuring device, a wait that had conditioned the athlete.
Pettorossi, on the other hand, will be in the semifinals of the 200m thanks to a time of 20''56, two hundredths off her personal best, joining Tortu and Desalu. Also qualified for the semifinals are Linda Olivieri in the women’s 400 hurdles, as well as Lambrughi and Bertoncelli in the men’s.
