Winning debut for Lorenzo Musetti, who in his first-round match at the Stuttgart ATP 250 (prize money €812,235) won in two sets after as many tie-breaks over Frenchman Giovanni Mpethsi Perricard, with a score of 7-6 (9) 7-6 (9)
The Carrara native, expected in the round of 16 by German Dominik Koepfer, aims to improve on the quarterfinals he reached last year, when he was stopped by Frances Tiafoe, repeating his fine showing at Queen's when Ben Shelton also had to surrender.
Musetti had to sweat in a match against a dominant player on serve (as many as 21 aces at the end) but in the decisive points è managed to place some winning paws that allowed him to close the accounts.
