Just a few days before the start of the 2024 European Championships in Germany, Portugal (one of the favorites for the final victory) wanted to send a clear message to the competition in the last test match. The Lusitanians, in fact, imposed themselves on Ireland with a clear 3-0.
The 2016 European Champions unlocked the result on 18'with Joao Felix, who served by Bruno Fernandes, beat Kelleher. In the first half Portugal went close to doubling the score with Cristiano Ronaldo, who hit the post on a free kick.
In the resumption, the Al-Nassr star rediscovered the joy of scoring a goal for the national team in the 50th minute with a precise left-footed shot that slipped past the Irish extreme defender. The former Real Madrid man then replayed ten minutes later by sealing his 130th goal in the Portugal jersey in 207 appearances.
Other friendlies of note included Ukraine's wide 0-4 victory over Moldova thanks to goals from Yaremchuk, Tsygankov, Dovbyk and Sudakov.
