SIAE and Sky, agreement against malfeasance in public venues

Agreement between SIAE and Sky

SIAE and Sky have announced that they have signed an agreement to protect merchants who use Sky Business subscriptions in their premises, in full compliance with the law, strengthening the’control activities in bars, restaurants and public places.

The protection of content in all its forms and the relative return on investment are objectives that unite SIAE, the Società Italiana Autori e Editori that has been protecting creativity since 1882, and a company like Sky, which produces and distributes original and exclusive content.

With this agreement, SIAE appointees will be in charge of ascertaining, in certain areas of the country, cases of illicit use of’residential“subscription” in public places and possible forms of piracy. In particular, SIAE officers will check whether a “Sky Business” subscription is being used to watch live sporting events – including Serie A, Champions League, ATP Tennis, Formula 1, MotoGP – in bars, restaurants and other commercial establishments.
