Matteo Berrettini in semifinals in Stuttgart

Matteo Berrettini, world number 95, rises again on “his” grass and clinches the semifinals of the Stuttgart ATP 250, a tournament he has already won twice in 2019 and 2022, beating Australian James Duckworth, number 101, with a score of 6-4 7-5 in just under an hour and a half.

Only two breaks in the entire match, obviously both in favor of Berrettini. The first came in the fifth game of the first set, in which the 28-year-old Roman broke his opponent on his fourth chance.

In the second set Matteo misses three break points on 0-40 service Duckworth at 2-2, the decisive stretch then comes at 5-5 and Berrettini closes immediately after at the second match point after not conceding a single break point in the entire match.

Now Matteo will faceà the winner of the quarterfinal that features another Italian, Lorenzo Musetti, opposing Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik.
