VNL: Italy overwhelms South Korea and secures pass to Final Eight

After securing the arithmetic qualification for the Paris Olympic Games, Italy women's team further certified also the pass for the Final Eight of Volleyball Nations League by overwhelming South Korea, gaining the eighth success out of eleven matches played. 25-16 25-11 25-13 è the final result in favor of the girls coached by Julio Velasco.
The blue team, despite the massive turnover, took command of operations from the first bars, managing to widen the margin with absolute ease and closing the match in just 65 minutes of play. Due to Korea’s lower technical rate, the Italian coach gave a rest to three key elements of the roster: Paola Egonu, Caterina Bosetti and Anna Danesi.
Best player for Italy è was opposite Ekaterina Antropova with 19 points. Good performances also for Alice Degradi, Sarah Fahr and Sara Bonifacio, who finished with 11, 12 and 7 points respectively. Among the ranks of South Korea the best were Jiyun M. (10) and Jiyun J. (7).
Thanks to the success against the Asians, Julio Velasco’s lineup consolidated third place in the overall standings with 25 points behind Brazil and Poland, who collected 31 and 27 points. The Azzurri will return to the court already on Saturday, June 15 at 8:30 a.m. Italian time for the challenge with the United States.
