Givova Scafati announced that it has reached an agreement with U.S. athlete Robert Dejuan Gray Jr. a 30-year-old combo-guard with a remarkable international resume, characterized by exceptional talent, great dynamism and leadership.
Rob, a formidable offensive player in 1vs1 situations, è a 185 cm tall, 82 kg scoring guard capable of creating advantageous offensive opportunities for himself and his teammates. Born in 1994 in Forest City, North Carolina, Gray developed his basketball skills in the United States, playing for the University of Houston with the Cougars team. Between 2015 and 2018 in the NCAA, he scored an average of 18.6 points in over 90 official games, with a 36 percent percentage on three-point shots. After not being selected in the 2018 NBA Draft, Gray è joined the Indiana Mad Ants in the G-League, where he recorded his career high in points in a game (46), attracting the attention of major European leagues.
In March 2019, he signed his first contract outside the United States with Bourg-en-Bresse in France, where he totaled 14 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.9 assists in 10 games. His impact in the French league è was so impressive that he è was confirmed in LNB (French Serie A), first with Boulogne-Levallois (14.5 points average with over 50% from two and 40% from three-point range) and then, in the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons, with the prestigious team of AS Monaco. With the Monegasques he reached the heights of his career: he won the 2021 EuroCup as MVP (24 points average against Unics Kazan in the final series of the tournament) and played in the Euroleague a few months later.
In the summer of 2022 he signed with Tofas Bursa in Turkey, where he è distinguished himself by averaging 18.2 points per game (37 in the win against Fenerbahce, his European record) in the league and 22.5 in the Basketball Champions League. The following season he è flew to Prometey (Ukraine), where he scored an average of 12.9 points in just 19 minutes of play, but after elimination in the EuroCup quarterfinals he decided to move to Breogan, Spain, to finish the season 2023/24.
