Wimbledon, Jannik Sinner plays hide-and-seek: “I like it but…”
Jannik Sinner points to another favorite for Wimbledon
With his final success at the Halle tournament, Jannik Sinner added another piece to the mosaic of an already incredible career, winning on the only surface he still lacked, grass. And it is on grass that the next Grand Slam tournament, Wimbledon, will be played: Sinner will play it as world No. 1, although he himself points to another favorite.
"I like Wimbledon: last year I played well and lost only in the semifinals" said in an interview with 'La Repubblica' the South Tyrolean champion, who then unbalanced: "We are all good players and there can always be some surprises in a tournament like Wimbledon. So I won’t say; whether I’m the favorite or not. Djokovic certainly is è: if he comes back, if he è is fit, è clearly the favorite".
Jannik è also not focused on only one opponent: "Alcaraz won last year, Zverev is playing very well. Let’s see. It will be a very interesting tournament" explained the number 1 in the ATP rankings, who officially reached the top last June 10, after Roland Garros.
Sinner has participated three times in Wimbledon, if one considers the main draw of the men’s tournament: in 2021 he did not make it past the first round, beaten by Marton Fucsovics, in 2022 he è stopped in the quarterfinals against Novak Djokovic, who was able to come back two sets behind, while last year he reached the semifinals, being defeated again by Djokovic in three sets.
