Now è official: Douglas Luiz è a new Juventus player. It was announced è by the Bianconeri club itself through an official statement: "È official the move to Juventus of the midfielder class 1998 who arrives in Turin from’Aston Villa on a permanent basis, signing a 5-year contract, until June 30, 2029".

Douglas Luiz Soares de Paulo was born in Rio de Janeiro in May 1998 and, football-wise, trained in the Vasco da Gama Youth Team, a club with which he made his First Team debut in 2016. With the Rio de Janeiro team he collects "only" 29 appearances: Douglas, in fact, quickly attracts the attentions of the Old Continent. È Manchester City that brings the 1998 class to Europe, but è at Girona, where he remains for two seasons on loan, he plays his first European games.

In Spain he collects 46 appearances before moving, later and permanently, to Aston Villa: è here Douglas Luiz imposes himself, over the years, in international soccer, even winning the Brazilian national team with which he debuts in November 2019.

In Birmingham è a constant evolution: from the’importance to the team, to the maturation in all aspects of the game that allow him to insert himself in the’list of the most interesting midfielders in the entire Premier League. With Aston Villa, there are 204 appearances in all competitions, domestic and international, with 22 goals and 24 assists to his credit.

In between also a not insignificant satisfaction with the Brazilian selection at the last Tokyo Olympics: a five-ring event that Douglas Luiz played as a great protagonist and with which he won, in the Yokohama final won against Spain, the gold medal.

Douglas Luiz arrives, therefore, at Juventus after five seasons played in the Premier League. Years that showed his exponential growth in terms of technical, tactical and physical improvements and responsibility within the green rectangle.
