NBA, LeBron James becomes free agent but winks at Lakers
The All Star could play until he is 42
LeBron James has waived his final year contract with the Los Angeles Lakers ($51.4 million) and è become, officially, a free agent. A farewell to the yellowviola (where è son Bronny just arrived?). No, anything but. A move to "help" the franchise improve its roster.
Through Paul, his longtime agent, King James has let it be known that he wants to work out a new deal with the Lakers. There is talk of a three-year deal (he would play, thusì, until the age of 42) but with a discount on the salary he could receive ($162 million total for three seasons), soì as to leave the Los Angeles franchise some salary space to put under contract a player who can improve the roster.
Many names are being floated. One of them answers to the name of Thompson, now at the end of his long love affair with the Warriors. Also watch out for James, who, after playing with the Clippers, could now don the Lakers jersey and attempt, with King James, the assault on the NBA ring he has never won.
King James's agent has apparently asked the Lakers to get him the new contract quickly, so that he can leave his client calm and peaceful. The all-star is, in fact, ready to compete in the Olympics with the Dream Team and would like not to have to think about contractual issues.
