Fencing, like tennis, also has a young Italian talent looking down on everyone in the world rankings: the "Jannik Sinner of foil" è Tommaso Marini, class of 2000, fresh European champion of the specialty; as well as the winner of the World gold medal in 2023 and the World Cup in foil in 2022.

Marini is now aiming at the big target, the Paris 2024 Olympic Games: he will get there as number 1 in the world foil ranking and as the main favorite, a role that will certainly putà pressure: in important appointments, however, the Ancona-born boy has always shown concentration and effectiveness, so much so that in just a few years he has become one of the benchmarks of the specialty.

In the world rankings of fencing, there is not only Tommaso Marini to play the leading role: Arianna Errigo è in fact, climbed to number 2 in the ranking of women’s foil, thanks to the European triumph in Basel, while Alberta Santuccio è climbed to third place among the epeeists, thanks to the bronze medal won in the specialty precisely in Switzerland.

For all è it’s time to think about the Olympic dream: from today, as announced by Federscherma, all the Italian national teams are in collegiate training camp: the foil of coach Stefano Cerioni and the epee of Dario Chiadò work, respectively, in the CONI Olympic Preparation Centers in Rome and Tirrenia, while the saber of Nicola Zanotti trains in Ayas, in Valle d’Aosta.
