Scotland’s Ewen Ferguson, with a total of 270 (67 64 71 68, -18) strokes, won the BMW International Open on the München Eichenried Golfclub course (par 72) in Munich, Germany. In the DP World Tour tournament, Filippo Celli, ninth with 276 (71 70 67 68,-12), played a’s third consecutive top ten, following tenth place in the KLM Open and the’Italian Open.
The winner edged out England’s Jordan Smith and Australia’s David Micheluzzi, second with 272 (-16), by two strokes. In fourth with 274 (-14) were Scotland’s Connor Syme and England’s Matthew Southgate, and in sixth with 275 (-13) were Sweden’s Jens Dantorp, Japan’s Rikuya Hoshino and Belgium’s Matthis Besard.
Ewen Ferguson è made himself a nice present for his 28° birthday, which he celebrated on July 6, by winning his third title on the circuit at 103ª presence. He’ rose to the top alone in the second round, è was joined in the third by Smith who then broke away in the fourth with a 68 (-4, five birdies, one bogey). The Englishman è was then hooked in the final round by Micheluzzi, at the top in the first round, with the birdie-birdie-eagle sequence on the last three holes.
Ferguson won a check for 392,710 euros out of a prize pool of about 2,300,000 ($2,500,000 was the official figure).
Filippo Celli, 23, from Rome, got off to a slow start (54°) then made a determined comeback that ended in the top 10 with a round of 68 (-4, five birdies and one bogey as the winner). Two other Italians took home prizes: Renato Paratore, 40° with 283 (71 70 73 69, -5), and Matteo Manassero, 47° with 285 (75 66 71 73, -3).
