Paris 2024 Olympics, Italians to medal: Yeman Crippa
Paris Olympics, Azzurri to medal
Yemaneberhan Crippa, moreù simply Yeman, as everyone knows him and as he himself introduces himself, è one of the Italian athletes on whom great expectations mature day after day. And it certainly cannot be a coincidence, since this boy born on October 15, 1996 in Dessiè, Ethiopia, and adopted at the age of seven by Roberto Crippa and his wife Luisa, è the current Italian record holder in no less than seven disciplines.
Crippa boasts to his name, in fact, the Italian records for 3,000, 5,000 outdoor, 5,000 indoor and 10,000 meters on the track, as well as the 5 km, half marathon and road marathon. He began practicing sports in Trentino, in the Atletica Valchiese, immediately distinguishing himself in races over different distances and terrains.
During his career, Yeman Crippa has achieved notable results at the continental level, such as his recent success in the half-marathon at the European Championships in Rome, his gold in the 10,000 meters and bronze in the 5,000 at the 2022 continental event in Munich 2022, and his third place in the 10,000 in Berlin in 2018. At the Olympic level è he is looking for his first medal: in Tokyo è he finished 11th in the 10,000 and 29th in the 5,000, in Paris he will try for a prestigious result that would be the icing on the cake of a career so far already of great level.
A graduate of the hotel institute and a great lover of music, Crippa (whose full name, Yemaneberhan, means "Right arm of God" in Amharic) devotes himself with daily commitment to training, and the intense work done with his coach, Massimo Pegoretti, leads him to want to reach new goals every day, to leave his mark in the world of sports.
