Pecco Bagnaia excited about the new tire: “Valentino Rossi had told me about it.”
Pecco Bagnaia impressed by the new tire
Pecco Bagnaia closed in the lead the day of testing in Misano, in the aftermath of the Grand Prix of San Marino and the Riviera di Rimini: "I worked a lot in view of 2025. I did not try the fairing that Martin and Bastianini have tried, becauseé it is an’aerodynamics that I had already tried at Silverstone but then I took off becauseé I did not like".
"Today it was difficult to be able to understand something, becauseé the times with new and used tires were very similar – added the Ducati rider, in the words reported by GPOne -, but maybe for the last races overseas we will have something that can help us. As for the time, I lapped in 1’30”9 with a medium tire for about 22 laps, then I put on a new one and did 1’30”6. If we had wanted to do a time attack I could also have run on the’1’30 low, but there was no point".
The reigning world champion è was impressed by the new front tire developed by Michelin: "At’the beginning è it was strange, I think I did the first lap in 1'36" or 1'34" but as soon as I understood the tire è it went very well and Iè liked it a lot. Valentino Rossi often told me about the Bridgestones, and as soon as I tried it I thought the feeling was just like they had with those tires".
"I love it and I really needed it becauseé I’m a rider who uses the brake a lot when entering corners and with the tires we have now I can’t brake as I would like to becauseé the front collapses, while with this tire it seems like I have a lot more margin – explained the Turin-based rider. I think it can help me becauseé I can force a lot more on entry, so è it was a nice surprise".
Totally different, on the other hand, è Bagnaia's idea about the possibility of communication between pits and riders in MotoGP: "I think he will get fined at every race like Michael Jordan, who was fined at every game for red shoes, because I woné’t useé anything like that. I have tried the systems and they press on an area of the’bone that starts to hurt just by pressing with your fingers for 30 seconds, let alone driving for 40 minutes. È something that makes no sense. We already have all the systems to be warned, like the dashboard and the table. There’è no need for more communications, also because’é they can also be distracting, and we drive vehicles that do not allow to be distracted".
