Kevin Strootman says enough

Kevin Strootman says enough. After his last experience in Italy with the Genoa jersey, the Dutch midfielder has decided to hang up his boots, announcing his retirement from playing soccer through a post on his Instagram profile.

"Careers come to an end. Thank you soccer!" wrote Strootman below the black and white image, divided in half: on the left all the crests of the teams he played for with a final 'Thank you' on the right half of his face.

Strootman officially ends his career at the age of 34. The class of 1990 has worn the shirts of Roma, PSV, Sparta Rotterdam, Genoa, Marseille, Utrecht and Cagliari. With the Netherlands Strootman has made 46 appearances, scoring three goals.

Strootman’s palmares includes two trophies, both won with PSV: the Netherlands Cup in 2011-2012 and the Dutch Super Cup in 2013.
