Paulo Sousa pushes Roma away: ‘I’m fine in Dubai’
The move to the Giallorossi has not è long been in his plans.
Roma soccer market: Ivan Juric è has been on the gridiron for weeks, due to the Giallorossi’s erratic results since sitting on the bench inherited by Daniele De Rossi. It remains to be established how solid his position is, in any case there's a colleague who does not pose a threat to him at least in the immediate term: Paulo Sousa.
The Portuguese coach è is currently under contract with Shabab Al-Ahli, a Dubai club that participates in the UAE’s top league, and he has no intention of making a change. He confided this himself in an interview with the 'Corriere dello Sport', during which he però also admitted that the possibility of working for Roma was there. The fact è that does not concern the present, but a past now also quite distant.
"Franco Baldini sought me out, years ago. Then there'è was nothing more"” said Paulo Sousa. Who also made it clear that in any case this would not be the right time to receive a possible call from Roma: "Here in Dubai they have made great investments for me. So I am fine where I am, they have put me in a very good condition and I want to win with them".
Paulo Sousa then dwelt on the two most significant experiences of his coaching career in Serie A, at Fiorentina and Salernitana. "In Florence we came within a step of something extraordinary, but it remains an amazing year. Salerno è the place where I found myself best, from the place to the people there; through the staff. But the contract included a severance package in case of transfer, with Napoli I just talked without any agreement. I was free, Salernitana sought me out just a day before the deadline".
