Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori won’t stand for it: ‘you should play like in Slams’
Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori don’t fit: “it should be played like in Slams”
Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori failed to beat Krawietz/Puetz for the third time this season, being defeated 7-5 6-4 in a match decided by very few points. “With such a regulation, with dry point and no third set, matches turn on too few points”, the two Italians told in a press conference.
“We should play like in the Slams, without dry point and with the third set ‘normal’”, Bolelli explains. He is echoed by Vavassori: “not only here, even in a major tournament like the Olympics we should play with ‘extended sets’: even Nadal had complained about it once”.
Nothing è yet lost, however, for Bole and Wave, who on Friday will take on a very tough pair like Arevalo/Pavic (to whom they have always lost this year) in a real inside or outside match: loser goes home, winner moves on.
“They are two very strong players and very solid”, admits Bolelli, later confessing how Arevalo is a bit’ stronger from the back and Pavic more’ good at the net, although on this surface it may be more the South American who goes into trouble.
“We forò will still start with the boost of the crowd, we don’t think it’s an extra pressure but an advantage”, still explain the Italians, who can’t wait to get back on the court to try to win a historic semifinal.
