Australian Open: Matteo Berrettini struggles but not enough with Holger Rune

Matteo Berrettini's adventure at the Australian Open ends in the second round. The Roman tennis player, in fact, è surrendered in four sets to Danish Holger Rune with a score of 7-6 2-6 6-3 7-6, after a battle that lasted almost three and a half hours.
In the first set, the Italian got off to a rocket start with a five-game two-set lead. In the ninth game, the Rome native has a chance to win the first partial, but the world number 13 does not give up and first recovers the break then drags the match to the tie-break, which he won with a score of 7-3.
The second set follows the same score as the first with Berrettini immediately taking the lead. This time, however, Rune fails to make a comeback and the Azure restores parity with a peremptory 6-2.
In the third partial è the Dane to run away immediately in the score thanks to a four-games-to-one lead. On the strength of the lead break, the world number thirteen managed to control the pace and close the score on 6-3.
The fourth set started immediately uphill for Berrettini, who lost the opening game. The Italian, however, did not give up and recovered the disadvantage in the sixth game. At that point, both players became relentless on serve and the match slipped to the tie-break, where Rune placed the decisive extension on 8-6, thus closing the match.
In the next round, the Dane will face Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic who defeated Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz in three sets with a score of 6-4 6-4 6-2.
