Bitter California for Anna Kalinskaya

Bitter debut on California cement.

Anna Kalinskaya experienced a very bitter evening in California. The Russian è in fact already eliminated at Indian Wells, after succumbing in two sets to the U.S. Alycia Parks at the end of a match also characterized by a bad weather interruption. After the recovery è it was then the American wild card who beat her, after an hour and a half of play and thanks to the score of 6-4, 6-3.

The girlfriend of Jannik Sinner è got off to a bad start, giving up her serve in the opening game (0-1). However, Kalinskaya è was good to react immediately, winning the counter-break in the next game (1-1). On 2-1 for the American, the match è was suspended with the Russian serving on 40-40 in the game. After break and counterbreak in the fifth and sixth games, decisive for Parks è was then the tenth in which she è managed to break her opponent&#39s service.

Less than forty minutes then decided the second and decisive set, with Parks able to take another break taking a 3-1 lead. Kalinskaya è no longer managed to react, even risking another on 4-2 when she nullified two break points that would also have been match point. In the next game, then, the winning point for the U.S. number 61 on the WTA circuit.

Prior to this defeat, Anna Kalinskaya was ahead 2-0 in the head-to-head clashes against Alycia Parks, the last of which was played at the very 'BNP Paribas Open' in 2023 with a crushing victory for the Russian in two sets (6-1 6-1).
