Boris Becker spoke about Jannik Sinner and the characteristics a top tennis player must have to reach and remain world number one in the ATP rankings. In an interview with the official ATP website, Becker explained that first of all you need a little bit' of… craziness. "You have to be a little bit crazy, a little bit selfish in the sense that your life è tennis".
"You have to be willing to do what it takes, your whole life has to be about tennis. There can't be anything more important than winning the next tennis match", clarified the former German tennis player.
"To maintain that intensity for a long time è is difficult, but I think we former No. 1s all have this crazy mindset of doing what it takes to win the match. È a great accomplishment, whether it is one week, 12 weeks or 350 weeks".
Becker also spoke about Sinner in particular: "I was very honored to present the trophy to Jannik Sinner. When è became world number one I was not surprised. He lives and breathes tennis, he left home at age 13 to become the best. He's always been talented, but what was really evident è his determination".
