Moldova ridiculed by Norway: makes one, takes 11

It does not seem the case that Italy, coming off a pyrotechnic (and worrying) 5-4 loss in Debrecen, Hungary, against Israel, is banking on goal difference with Norway, the team that is leading the World Cup qualifying group.

The Scandinavian team on Tuesday night beat Moldova 11-1. This is the first time in 30 years that Norway has scored a double-digit number of goals in a match. Exactly 30 years ago, Norway had beaten San Marino 10-0.

The never-satiated Erling Haaland, with the five goals he scored on the hapless opponents, equaled the record of goals scored in a single match by Odd Wang Sørensen, a record that had stood since way back in 1948.

At the Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo it was a real shoot-out: also scoring were Aasgaard (four goals), Myhre and Odegaard. For the guests the only joy was Ostigard’s own goal.
